Can you hear us now? Count the votes already cast for Hillary in Florida and Michigan. Stop with the misogyny already and nominate the strongest and best candidate to go against McCain.
Today I have heard several radio commentators/hosts remark on how tired Obama is getting, of course, being sympathetic [it’s all her fault it’s gone on so long], but I wonder.
One even mentioned BO saying he’d been in 57 states and then, repeating 57 states again. Now that’s tired! And there is that habit he has of running home to rest even before the ballots are counted in states he lost.
Why is this seemingly strong, young male exhausted? Does it indicate a latent health problem? Stress may be making him tired but think of the stress in the Oval office or facing up to McCain in debates or enduring the firestorm of negativity from the right.
On the other hand, there’s the Energizer bunny in a pants suit, a good 10 years his senior, looking and acting like the first day of the campaign. This is an amazing feat as she has been running with the mean-stream media, AARadio, poisoned blogs and the DNC on her back throughout.
Not a peep from the cables about BO’s seemingly weak constitution but just wait if he officially wins the primary and has old guy McCain dancing circles around him.
Traditional core Democrats have been re-designated by Obomites. The Dnc’s Donna Brazile has delineated the new Obama Party as being AA’s, younger, urbane, suburban and upscale, “… and we don’t have to just rely on white blue-collar voters and Hispanics” [incidentally these are Hillary’s base].
That means down with Bubba, women, older, blue collar and all minorities other than AA’s. The racial division was planned and executed by the Obama campaign from the git-go.
Race Man by Sean Wilentz
How Barack Obama played the race card and blamed Hillary Clinton.
Post Date Wednesday, February 27, 2008
“To a large degree, the campaign’s strategists turned the primary and caucus race to their advantage when they deliberately, falsely, and successfully portrayed Clinton and her campaign as unscrupulous race-baiters—a campaign-within-the-campaign in which the worked-up flap over the Somali costume photograph is but the latest episode. While promoting Obama as a “post-racial” figure, his campaign has purposefully polluted the contest with a new strain of what historically has been the most toxic poison in American politics. More than any other maneuver, this one has brought Clinton into disrepute with important portions of the Democratic Party. ”
http://www.tnr.com/politics/story.html?i…
Who supports Senator Clinton? “Some 60 percent of white women support Hillary. Asian and Hispanic women support her. Hillary also pulls in the most Catholic voters, Hispanic voters and blue-collar workers both male and female, and seniors.”
These people are dependable voters.

On the Big Orange Cheeto they're in full "Who? Hillary who?"
All of a sudden they care about the obscure stories re pentagon, face recognition scanning…oh,…primary? What primary? [Oh God, please make her go away, please!!!!]
It must really hurt to see your favorite heart throb on American Idol have a bad performance. Maybe he’ll be voted off.
I love this job!
Stop with the misogyny already ...
Stuck for choice. I can be a wife-beater or a klansman. This is the level of debate as exercised by the online democratic community.
I hold onto a vague hope that perhaps it’s just an internet thing. Maybe all that screen radiation causes some kind of weird Fred Phelps syndrome. Maybe all the other Democrat voters that haven’t discovered blogging are perfectly sane and lucid.
Or maybe the veneer of progress and tolerance among Democrats has been shown in this primary to be razor thin.
Screaming foul play about one’s opponent’s use of race-baiting, only to brand half the party as women-hating chauvinists in the same screed?
“But… but < sob! > they started it, sir!!!”
It’s like watching chimpanzees hurling feces at each other in the zoo.
So it looks like TPM has just figured out that Obama can't
Get the “appalachian” vote. Lots of charts and flowerly language to explain what Obama’s not getting. And fine, call it what you will, call it the moonshine vote, the scot-irish vote, the white, rural, uneducated vote…hell, call it the redneck vote, but, you know what Obama’s not getting? He’s not “getting” that he can’t win the election w/out the “appalachian” vote and until he figures this out he won’t win. Keep in mind this is just one part of the nation he’s not reaching.
WKJM
also details how these folks living in appalachia are…wait for it… racist. Yes, once again, another connection to racism, were we surprised, no. And they’re old, too…forgot that one. Yikes.
“As I alluded to earlier, this was the origin of West Virginia, which was originally the westernmost part of Virginia. The anti-slavery, anti-slaveholding upcountry seceded from Virginia to remain in the Union after Virginia seceded from the Union. Each of these regions was fiercely anti-Slavery. And most ended up raising regiments that fought in the Union Army. But they were as anti-slave as they were anti-slavery, both of which they viewed as the lynchpins of the aristocratic and inegalitarian society they loathed. It was a society that was both more violent and more self-reliant.
This is history. But it shapes the region. It’s overwhelmingly white, economically underdeveloped (another legacy of the pre-civil war pattern) and arguably because of that underdevelopment has very low education rates and disproportionately old populations. “
I love this job!
Purest equivalation
Glad we’re agreed on the race-baiting. Unfortunately, the misogyny is this campaign is real, and at times it seems to come from everywhere but the Hillary campaign. Shakespeare’s Sister has been keeping a list: It’s now up to 89.
In addition, if the comment threads at Kos, TPM, et cetera, are anything like they were, they’re filled with the most noxious forms of Hillary Hatred imaginable — made up stuff created by the Republicans in the 90s to impeach the Clintons with, and now repeated endlessly by the proponents of “a new kind of politics.”
So, shoot the messenger if you will.

The mental picture ...
from Incitatus, of chimps hurling feces at each other is killing me. We need a real picture of that one.
Heard Joe Klein the other night on CNN, in a drive-by viewing only, describing how tired Obama is to explain the verbal screw ups. Whatever — like the older woman isn’t tired, yet runs circles around him. Plus he was looking rather cocky in the pool shooting ’photo op.’ Arrogant doesn’t go over well when you’re heading out the door to your second job.
I think she is going to win.

2 things
First Hillary is nearly 20 years older than him and 2nd, IIRC Obama’s been a pretty heavy smoker for quite a long time, that’s gotta affect your health at some point.

IT’S NOT CLOSE. YOU FREAKING LOST THE NOMINATION, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?
Good God. What is wrong with her? The Clintons and their campaign staff don’t give a damn that they are now hurting our electoral chances in the fall against McCain and against the Republicans in Congress.
…
She can’t win, the math says she lost the nomination, but she doesn’t give a damn. She’s going to stay in the race like some spoiled hateful egotistical brat.
…
Why is the media even covering her? The only stories that should be written about Hillary Clinton is how much damage she’s causing our party.
…
How she has forced EMILY’s List and AFSCME and the AFT to waste their money because of her. How she has caused a civil war in the Netroots. Five months ago we all felt that we had 3 great candidates. Now, far too many of us loathe Hillary Clinton, and she has done her racist best to ensure that her supporters can’t stand Barack Obama either.
…
The Clintons don’t give a damn about our party. Their party, their church, is themselves. To hell with everyone else. I actually liked Hillary up until a few months ago.
…
She makes me yell at the TV like she’s George Bush, and no one other than George Bush makes me yell at the TV - until now. I actually can’t stand her or her husband any more. I defended her. I defended her husband. And now I’m actually wondering if the Republicans weren’t right about them. That’s how bad she has damaged her reputation. People who actually liked you, who actually helped you, who actually defended you, LOATHE you now. Call me a Clinton-hater all you like, but people like me were the ones who had your back. And we never will again.

You might as well go ahead and put the knife in yourself and get it over with.
“the misogyny is this
“the misogyny is this campaign is real”
I don’t doubt that. Misogyny has plagued American politics for centuries. I clicked through the list, and there is some compelling (and some not-so-compelling/logically incoherent) evidence that sexism is certainly a factor in all this. The main offender, however, appears to be the media, not Obama’s campaign. The media has a lot to answer for in this respect. It’s sad that sexism is still a sufficiently accepted form of expression that perpetrators don’t feel embarrassed to express such feelings. At least racists have been forced into silence regarding their ignorance. Although, I’m under no delusions that there are many individuals (white and, of course black) whose voting habits both in this primary and the GE will be influenced by the ethnicity of the candidate. Quietly racist or no. Are the white democrats of WV racist? Some are. Just as there are white democrat racists in every state of the union with white democrats.
The thing is, democrats should be trying to marginalise this sort of nonsense. If there is anything to be gained from this primary it is the fact that it has shown very clearly that their is a lot of work yet to be done to make equality a reality rather than merely a goal within the one party that claims to give a damn about the issue.
But instead, we have people actively encouraging it, using the words of the their opponents to justify their own crass generalisations. It’s a disturbing trend, but one that is most certainly not isolated among the adherents of a particular camp. I’ve found no reason to suspect that Hillary’s supporters are any more or less prone to deploying smear and innuendo than Obama’s crowd.
It’s a sad fact that if we judged either of these candidates by the poisonous vitriol emanating from their vocal minority supporters, they would both be damned to hell. As I said, my only hope is that the voval lot in both camps are not necessarily representative of the whole. Because if they are, a McCain win is surely the only appropriately karmic result.

Insightful is not a word they are familiar with.

And I don’t think the Republicans are that stupid even—over turning Roe would set them back a few decades.
Aravosis
I honestly think that Aravosis is the worst of all the “major” bloggers, by just about every possible metric. He’s not thoughtful and has nothing to add, and something is always the worst affront ever, interspersed with paeans to conspicuous consumption. He’s just a dick. Or, to wit, a horrible human being.
He's the Democratic Version
of Andy Sullivan and not because he’s gay.
Donahue
Not a bad comparison, but he might be more like William Donahue, supposedly speaking for a constituency that’s being mistreated, but, ultimately, not much of a representative at all, rather a publicity-hungry buffoon.

TalkingPointsMemo too—they were great when they had the right targets in mind.
Obama didn't start the fire
But his campaign and his supporters keep fanning the flames and pouring fuel on the fire.

Last night's big win wasn't in the media/OFB scripts
Although they clearly expected Hillary to win, the media and the OFB
thought with their 24/7 wankfest after NC that the turnout would be lower and the margin of victory much smaller.
That’s why they kept insisting a 41 pt victory was no big deal (if they acknowledged it at all) and kept talking about “the math.”
They expected something like a 60-40 split and a turnout of about 200k, which would have netted Hillary about 40k popular votes. Instead it was a huge turnout and 41 pt margin of victory, netting Hillary just under 150k popular votes.
How do you “ho-hum” such a devastating loss for a presumptive nominee?
They also didn’t expect the Edwards votes, probably because it wasn’t in their polling. Someone in a comment thread pointed out that Obama finished closer to Edwards than he did to Hillary, and someone else responded “He finished closer to me than he did to Hillary” which is true, Obama was closer to zero.

Via Jerome Armstrong, if Obama hits his pledged delegate projections for Oregon and Kentucky, he’ll still be short on May 20th to declare victory even under the 2025 number unless he picks up more than 80 SDs. See http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/5/14/1553…
Wow, that should be really embarrassing for him.
I use photobucket
Flicker wanted too much information.
Once you set up the photobucket account, the system uploads your images and names them automatically with whatever you named them in your computer file. It’s simple, fast and intuitive.
Once uploaded, an HTML tag is created and appears below the image. One left-click and it is copied. Paste into the comment box and Bob’s your uncle.
No need for Full HTML codes with images, but for YouTube you have to tag everything and click open the “O Full HTML” option found under “Input Format” below the Comment box.
There is a resizing feature at Photobucket but I have found it much faster to resize myself, then upload. Maximum width at Corrente is 500 mpxls, but 450 looks better IMHO. Some photos/figures are cleaner at even smaller sizes, Preview is your friend.
Edwards just endorsed him???
msnbc just said on air…
booo
Edwards WIll Endorse Obama Tonight
According to Time, he’s making an appearance with Obama in Michigan.
This was completely predictable, IMO. The longer Edwards waited, the more likely he would endorse based on who he thought would win. He’s jumping on the Obama bandwagon while he can still get some credit for Obama for it.
It's on their website too
CNN has nothing

What a punch to the gut
I honestly believed in Edwards. I feel like an absolute fool now. The OFB
are officially at code yellow (overconfidence) with a side platter of code red (attack/gloat).
I cannot believe he did this. What the hell are these people thinking? No amount of endorsements or campaigning on Obama’s behalf will fix his tremendous GE problems. And Edwards himself said that if you truly want to change Washington “You can’t nice them to death.”
Wasn't he denying he would endorse anyone just last week?
Something stinks

a cabinet post?
i can’t think of anything else. it totally sucks, and it’s wrong—on healthcare alone, let alone poverty!
and i keep remembering the “Obama blew it” story — http://nymag.com/news/politics/powergrid…
“…According to a Democratic strategist unaligned with any campaign but with knowledge of the situation gleaned from all three camps, the answer is simple: Obama blew it. Speaking to Edwards on the day he exited the race, Obama came across as glib and aloof. His response to Edwards’s imprecations that he make poverty a central part of his agenda was shallow, perfunctory, pat. Clinton, by contrast, engaged Edwards in a lengthy policy discussion. Her affect was solicitous and respectful. When Clinton met Edwards face-to-face in North Carolina ten days later, her approach continued to impress; she even made headway with Elizabeth. Whereas in his Edwards sit-down, Obama dug himself in deeper, getting into a fight with Elizabeth about health care, insisting that his plan is universal (a position she considers a crock), high-handedly criticizing Clinton’s plan (and by extension Edwards’s) for its insurance mandate. …”
or--
is it that Obama needs every single “populist” politician speaking up for him, so they’re all gonna step up to try to save what they know is a fatally weak candidate going into the fall?
Edwards did definitely say he wouldn’t ever run again, but that’s prob not true either.
Don't trust it
The problem with photobucket is, if you even post one picture, (say on a blog), I can figure out your whole photoalbum and see a lot more than you wanted me too. Of course, it’s listed as public, but still they make it too easy to cyber stalk.
