A 16-year-old girl has asked to have her pro-bono lawyer removed from her case after she was the only minor child not returned to the FLDS last month. The lawyer says FLDS Spokesman and "enforcer" Willie Jessop has intimidated her client. The nastiness in the name of God goes on forever.

Their goodness is all on a level of pretense. It is in effect a lie. Actually the lie is designed not so much to deceive others as to deceive themselves. With the caveats, that Peck raises, that evil is very dangerous to analyze--since we are, after all, all vulnerable to it.

Not just any FLDS girl
She's one of Warren Jeffs' daughters, poor thing. One of 60 or so children, she'll have been taught from very early chidhood what to say and how to manipulate the “gentiles.” The only thing that will matter to her is to protect Jeffs, both as her father for whose attention she had to compete and for him in his role as Prophet and spokesman for God.
Such a sick mess.
And This Is Why The FLDS Wanted The Kids Back
While I'm sure there is parental love there for some of the sect members, the sect overall wanted them back because every day the kids are not under sect control increases the chances that they will start thinking for themselves. In addition to being their children, they are also potential witnesses and the sect leaders know it. And with men like these, protecting their own power comes first.
