If you have "no place to go," come here!

Will the massive suckitude of our famously free press never stop?

Salon's Rebecca Traister writes a thumbsucker on PUMAs without interviewing or even quoting a single, solitary soul except -- making assumptions here -- MSNBC chief Phil Griffin. Nice work if you can get it.

Oh, but she does manage to reference Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus. And cougars.

Nice.

Maybe she's auditioning to be MoDo's understudy?

Traister was on the panel about the media and she was the one who pointed out that much of the misogyny came from the left and that the discussion of it was not permissible until after Clinton lost and she was no longer a threat to either Obama or men generally.

And you could read all about what she and others at Emily's List said if my hard drive hadn't died and taken my post with it. I understand from the guy at Apple, it's unlikely my post will resurrect itself on my new hard drive. Argh!

"Progressives," eh?

You could write up your impresssions of the Emily's List thing... I'd welcome the post, even without as much detail you'd like....

to piece together a shorter, impressionistic version of the Emily's List conference if RL permits.

There were several positive things I took away from it. I was impressed that Ellen Malcolm speaks openly about getting and using political leverage, rare these days among Democrats, IMO. And the group seemed single-minded and fairly relentless about pursuing its goal of electing more pro-choice women Democrats. That's not, of course, a cure-all for what ails the Democratic party or the progressive movement, but it was nice to see at least some people in the Democratic party who knew what they wanted and worked every day to get it. There are lessons to be learned there, I think.

Try, and succeed!

Always better to have original reporting, rather than depending on our famously free press...
