Jill Stein's results mapped

Stein did best where the Green Party had a strong local presence. For legacy parties the top of the ticket drives turnout, for emergent parties it is the reverse, a local presence is everything.

for scuttling Jill Stein's chance to get 5%. My liberal friends everywhere were too freaked (e.g. OMG!! Supreme Court!!) to think of voting third party, even in what is arguably the bluest district of the bluest state.

It occurs to me that this stifling of alternative voices like the Greens was a feature of the Politics of Fear, not a bug.
