What a mess

Iraq wanted drones or airstrikes:

As the threat from Sunni militants in western Iraq escalated last month, Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki secretly asked the Obama administration to consider carrying out airstrikes against extremist staging areas, according to Iraqi and American officials.

Hoshyar Zebari, Iraq’s foreign minister, last year floated the idea that armed American-operated Predator or Reaper drones might be used to respond to the expanding militant network in Iraq. American officials dismissed that suggestion at the time, saying that the request had not come from Mr. Maliki.

James M. Dubik, a retired Army lieutenant general who oversaw the training of the Iraqi army during the surge, summed it up this way: “We should fly some of our manned and unmanned aircraft and put advisers into Iraq that can help the Iraqi Army plan and execute a proper defense, then help them transition to a counter offensive.”

Madness.

I think we should send W over there as an envoy, let him negotiate between the two sides. And the Congressional leadership, too.

George W would be more effective if Barack H was there with him.

They would be most effective if they were both smeared with honey and buried next to a large ant hill out in the desert, halfway between the two sides.

...why?
Wait till we're out of Afghanistan; the take-over should be much faster/quicker.

be over soon enough with the sunni winning so the house of saud will then be able to control the oil. This will also stop China from receiving oil from Iraqi, at this time it's 50% of Iraqi oil is sold to China. The Shia sadly will be the losers and I don't think Sadar is strong enough to stop them unless Iran steps in.

Mike last paragraph nails it. Pretty fucking sad for Amerikan soldiers that died there and the million of Iraqis that died and were displaced, something that Amerika empire is good at. I remember writing on a Syrian site when the revolution started that it will be stolen from you and Amerika isn't coming to help you but to enslave you. Then again Assad wasn't as weak as Libya leader.
