Natasha:

The health financing reform fight has been no exception to this trend, and I don't know if I'm even capable of conveying how angry it makes me that Obama's signaling he's willing to gut reproductive health coverage in even private insurance plans, and almost certainly to exclude it from any public option, just so he can stake a claim to being the "last" president to deal with health care.

If you like the coverage you have, you can keep it. Probably. Unless you're a chick.

As I replied in comments:

Damn. Reproductive rights was, IIRC, about the only actual progressive issue where Obama had a solid record in the Senate (not that he especially touted that on the campaign trail).

This news is not too surprising, though, given his penchant for chiseling the mortar out of the wall between church and state. It's a little late for NARAL to notice, though, isn't it?

by not taking a stand on several votes and then lying about his reasons for it. There was no policy of getting senators from clearly blue districts to vote "present" on choice issues to provide cover for senators from redder districts. That was a lie cooked up during the presidential campaign to cover his ass. If you think about it, it doesn't even make sense. When conservatives hammer a Democratic into voting against women's reproductive rights issues, they're quite pleased with themselves. No one needs someone else not voting to justify to conservatives that they didn't vote.

I still think the guy is GOP. Just my opinion.
