Corrente

If you have "no place to go," come here!

Ugh, Cory Booker

A corrupt Wall Street tool and a Dominionist? Nice. The Democrats are doubling down on Obama, aren't they?

If I were a Democrat, I'd vote Republican. Better a Republican Senator than Booker 2020 -- or 2016.

Sorry, Lambert, didn't see this post, or I would have posted my recent comment in this thread.

I'll be posting an expose on "Dominionists" closer to the elections.

Don't know if Corrente covered it, but a "cabal" of Repub and Dem dominionists practically run the US Government, and the Pentagon.

Several VERY prominent present and former senators participate in a Wednesday "prayer circle" with the top dominionist in D.C.--Douglas Coe. [The prayer circles are known as "a family of friends in Christ, the prayer breakfast groups," according to Wikipedia.]

I come from the "very left faith community"--and this "cabal" scares the cr*p out of me, which says a lot.

Coe has also touted Hitler (as mentioned in your Booker post). There is a huge amount of material about Coe's secret organizations (not so secret, acutally, since about 2007), and the participants.

So, sadly, Booker may just "fit right in" with many of the "most powerful" Washington Power Brokers.

My time is so limited, I cannot blog on this topic as much as I like, at present. But, I have always been a stalwart backer of maintaining a VERY bright line between Church and State.

But both parties are vested in bringing the faith community into government. More on the history of that later, but it started when former President Clinton signed John Ashcroft's bill allowing the "beginning" of the faith-based communities private-public partnership in the 90's). If I recall correctly (and I'll double-check on this, before I post on this), it was included in the "Welfare Reform Act."

If Booker's candidacy and election help shine a light on this, then maybe a little bit of good will come out of this.

I've got an interesting piece and screenshot to post (eventually) regarding the "expansion" of the Office Of Faith-Based Initiatives under this Administration. Initially, a "Pentecostal" was appointed to head this Office. Can't get more right-wing than that, LOL!

I hope as a community, the left blogosphere will finally take on this issue.

It is NOT just an issue "on the right." Some Dem pols are "up to their eye brows" in this toxic movement, and it should be exposed.

we did have one person who posted for a while on dominionists - http://correntewire.com/blog/1576

i live in an area that has a fair amount of dominionist theology going on, mostly under the radar, so i'd love to see more people writing on this topic.

posts. I remember vaguely the video of Sarah Palin and some Kenyan "dude"--think he was "laying hands" on her (apparently, a favorite Pentecostal pastime, when not anointing oneself with oil).

The writer of the posts references an excellent reporter who actually went "incognito" to live with a bunch of D.C. Dominionists.

And yes, the entire South and Midwest has its share of these folks, unfortunately, LOL!

Hopefully shedding some light on this will help avoid electing more of them.

Unfortunately, it may be too late to stop Booker. Sadly, the mainstream corporatist media colludes to "protect" these pols (or so it seems).

Thanks, Hipp. You're right, and I will definitely use this link.

Luckily, Harper's and Mother Jones have some fairly good material regarding the Dems' participation in Dominionist organizations, events, etc.

But. naturally, it is harder to discern their involvement in this ultra conservative religious/facistic movement, since they are much more secretive and/or discreet about their involvement.

And for this reason, the "volume of information" on their involvement is considerably skimpier. But some would argue that it is equally incriminating.

and all the more reason i hope more people start writing about them.

Well, I'd prefer a third party. But it may be there's no time for that. Really, if this is the future of the Democrats... It's BAR's "more effective evil" argument, but squared or cubes.

How long before Booker and his acolytes deploy the racist card? 10, 9, 8....

In addition, Booker is a Rhodes scholar. You know, the scholarship set up by the butcher of South Africa to educate a steady stream of English-speaking colonialists. Like Clinton. Or Bob Rae. Or Bill Bradley—the skunk who invited Wall Street back into the Democratic Party.

that US State Department Heads, and US (UN) Diplomats are usually quite wealthy.

Mr. A did a quick "search" recently, and it appears that Dr. S Rice is worth approximately 43.5 million dollars. About one third of her wealth is invested in "energy stocks," including Dutch Royal Shell and Trans-Canada.

And who has the time to figure out where John Kerry has all of his vast wealth invested. ;-)

This dude is a major Creep.

I've already counted two interactions with otherwise perfectly intelligent and educated friends where I mentioned Booker being a Dominionist and a member of the Private Equity (Asset Stripping) Class and was met with, first, big eyes (disbelief, horror) and then surrender (oh well, all politicians get money from bla bla -- but the Dominionist bit -- which used to be a big fav of the Neo Liberal Democrats (being horrified at the Republican Fundamentalists -- ooooh how scary, how terrible, how .... backward) just fell off the radar ... too much to face, I guess.

It's feeling more and more like one of those sci-fi movies where bad creatures disguised in humanoid Man-In-Flannel-Suit costumes come in from outer space and infiltrate (and eventually take over) our planet. Was that an actual movie or a Twilight Zone episode?
