Will ownership turn out to be largely a hack people resorted to before they had the infrastructure to manage sharing properly?

Well, kinda sorta, actually. This is a founder of Y Combinator, the geek forcing house slashed outsourced R&D department in Silicon Valley, so by "sharing" he means "renting," as in renting a room via AirBnB, which people in the precariat find a handy thing to do.
I had more in mind collective ownership and management of the means of production via crowd sourcing. To each their own!
