Trouble at ScienceBlogs

This is really sad, and we need PZMyers. Maybe some progress.

190,000 page views? Jeebus. That's awesome.

The inimitable Zuska has packed it in at ScienceBlogs. She's temporarily parked here.

can the bloggers just go set up their own blog? obviously they know and have worked with each other for a while, and they are the reason for the traffic which gets advertisers. so move on! there are only about a million concerns out there who would be happy to set them up with a new site, for not too much money at that.

i like the notion of a blogger strike, but practically, i'm not sure this is going to work, and it may just kill off an audience that would be a lot of work to get back.

I'm with you, CD. There's no problem here for readers, just for the SciBlog site. The only two I read on a regular basis (Isis and Zuska, as gob notes above) have their own sites up now on wordpress, and I've updated the addresses on my blogroll.

Maybe on their own websites, they'll get fewer douchey comments from antifeminist trolls. (Here's hoping, anyway.)

Is that Scienceblogs accepted money from Pepsi, allowing them to be the sole supporter of their new nutrition blog, which is like allowing the fox to pay for the security on your brand new henhouse.

Many contributors were justifiably outraged about it, and there was a big kerfuffle that has led to some departures, and now PZ's strike.

... somebody might mention to the sci-bloggers -- especially the ones who are getting douchey comments from anti-feminist trolls -- that they'd be welcome to cross-post, or even relocate, here...
