Latest Word on the Trail? I Take It Back
The quotations come back redacted, stripped of colorful metaphors, colloquial language and anything even mildly provocative.
They are sent by e-mail from the Obama headquarters in Chicago to reporters who have interviewed campaign officials under one major condition: the press office has veto power over what statements can be quoted and attributed by name.
This is just one example of why I am following this campaign on lambert's campaign countdown posts rather than what passes for the American news media. If you share my view, and have disposable income, please support the Corrente Hamsters.

Ha ha, the "stenography" snark becomes real
These guys really are friggin nuts. Total, sociopathic control freaks. Why don't we just cut out the middleman and print the blast fax from Minitrue?
That this has caaused so little outrage
is a story unto itself. 'Managed' news is nothing but propaganda has should be called as such.
The Guardian UK version has a good story on such 'editing' ; apparently the Germans excel at it.
