Terrorism in Seattle

There is much more information on this at DKos and in the Seattle Times.
I wonder just how seriously the FBI and other DHS agencies will take this WMD threat?

sarah: they aren't brown people, so it's not "terrorism" and

thus the FBI, homeland security and various other agencies don't care. they won't care even if scores of gay people die. sorry, concern is only when terrorism happens to Villagers and rich white people. the rest is just, um, "dedicated concern on controversial issues expressed with aplomb," or something.

it's never terrorism if it's against us gays or women's clinics-

ever. And this is nothing, comparatively -- compared to what actually occurs a lot.

all over the country gay and lesbian bars and community centers are threatened and/or attacked -- not infrequently at all -- including in big cities considered "safer" for us.

and many other countries as well considered tolerant and liberal.

This is just another reason why those who publicly advocate and work actively to discriminate (like Warren) should never ever be given more platforms or be considered "reasonable" and just "disagreeing" on "social issues".

Link?

What's this about?

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

In hospital?

Sounds like a crazy Canukian to me.

and pie --
yes, the letter uses Brit-style construction. Part of the letter is stolen verbatim from a poem by the recent winner of the pulitzer prize, a gay man writing about his lover's AIDS-related death.

I will not -- dare not -- speculate on whether the writer is from Canada, Australia, India, or the UK -- that construction could've been picked up in a South African or Singaporean school as well -- nor whether the writer's a wingnut or, as "Dan Savage" has postulated, a bitter gay man.

All that's best left to the profilers.

CD and amberglow: you're not trying to preach to me, are you? I"m in the choir; I don't sing, but that's a good thing (as I'm congenitally incapable of carrying a tune in a bucket with a lid nailed on), 'cause I'm not in the front row. I'm in the back row -- with the rest of the divorcees and the women who aren't happy being barefoot, pregnant, and destitute.

And I'm out in the congregation trying to raise hell too because, damn it, I've worked in public health and emergency management and this crap is simple domestic terrorism, and if you don't pursue and prosecute this the same way you would anthrax in Congress's mail, what the hell are you good for, you rotten useless excuse for a government?

Oh, right. McVeigh. Kaczinski. 9-11-01. Anthrax. In. the. fucking. mail. to. the. Senate.
J' repete: what the hell are you good for, you rotten useless excuse for a government?

We can admit that we’re killers … but we’re not going to kill today. That’s all it takes! ~ Captain James T. Kirk, Stardate 3193.0

we're not preaching -- it's that many

of us have been personally theatened and also know of many community places that have been threatened.

more important tho -- is that most of us have been bashed, attacked, and/or fired and/or evicted, etc, too -- and many of our bars and centers have been attacked too. Real physical terror and violence, like against abortion clinics too.

the threat here is just a threat and would have actually occurred if this guy was serious -- and for me at least, i think that it was only intended to be a threat and never to happen -- whoever sent these only wanted to scare -- and some of us don't scare that easy or see it as less bec it didn't happen, i guess -- esp when we compare it to all the real actions taken against us and our places.

and people are paying more attention to this than to all the actual murders and beatings and other real actions done against us all the time, which is kinda messed up.

than all the laws and amendments too, it seems. Prop 8 and laws passed do far more to hurt us for real. Obama's actions with McClurkin and Warren do far more to hurt us as well.

Well, according to this

article the FBI is taking the threat seriously.

See I can do something other than snark. :D It's just that some days, if you don't laugh...

Oh for christs sake. The whining! It burns..

I was here in Seattle in 1990, when these same lazy good for nothing presumptively homophobe FBI schmooks caught 3 Neo Nazis with a carload of pipe bombs **ON THEIR WAY** to hit Neighbors on Saturday night. BEFORE they bombed anybody.

I was here in 1993, when two dumbass bomber wannabees dropped a failed bomb down the back chimney of the Elite, thankfully to no effect -- and this same awful FBI caught them, and their carload of weapons and second attempt bombs, in about forty seconds-- *and* subsequently shepherded them all to a nice stay in federal prison.

This is all before Ellen, before Will and Grace, before antiterrorism was "cool", before law enforcement and the world at large were supposed to give a shite about some fags in a bar. And yet, there they were.

Organized skinhead groups were a growing and VERY dangerous problem here at that time. Pulled gays off buses in the U district and beat the shite out of us in broad daylight. Bombed the NAACP in Tacoma. Planned and targeted multiple assassinations.

Now, not so much.

Heres an idea. Do your damned homework.
