Talk something UP for a change, eh?

Biden.
Obama.
Eh. But, still. Better than McCain, no?

Let's talk about the OTHER races on the ballot in 2 1/2 months. The ones like Noriega vs. Cornyn, for Senator from Texas. What have y'all got? Who can y'all support?

Steve O'Donnell challenging for the PA 18th CD

He is a good guy, supports HR676, and is running against Tim Murphy. Unseating Murphy would be excellent, as we would probably gain a co-sponsor for single-payer, and eject Murphy from the Subcommittee on Health of the Committee for Energy and Commerce. Murphy's approach to health care is almost purely one of cost containment.

I will be knocking on doors and/or stuffing envelopes for O'Donnell. Anybody in Western PA who cares to help out can call 724-216-6831.

Go gob! Go Steve O'Donnell!

And, as ever, feel free to post about what you do.

Michigan's 7th

Democrat Mark Shauer, who is the Michigan minority senator leader, could very easily topple Republican (conservative and Christian) Tim Walberg, this year. Walberg is a favorite of Club for Growth, and also happens to be the most conservative member in Michigan's delegation, even more conservative than West Michigan's congresspersons. Michigan's 7th encompasses most of South Central Michigan, which is largely rural, but was drawn specifically to keep out Lansing, a metro of nearly half-a-million folks.

I would not mind seeing this down-ticket Democrat take the seat. It's really kind of odd, because the seat belonged to a Republican named Joe Schwarz from 2005 to 2007, who was a moderate, pro-choice, pro-environment Republican.

Conservative evangelicals didn't use to win races in Michigan, but they've been slipping into leadership positions in the state in recent years.
