"It's a disaster in this country ... we need a complete overhaul," Day said.

Many attending the forum said they support a more centralized "single payer" system that would have the government offering guaranteed coverage, like in Canada or many European nations.

Shea-Porter has been unwavering in her dedication to getting health care to every American citizen.

"The plan I support is Medicare for all," the incumbent congresswoman said on her campaign Web site. "It is cost effective and the structure is already in place.

"With Medicare, health care is privately delivered," the site says. "This allows the freedom to choose your own doctors."

The Iowa Caucuses will be Jan. 14. No, seriously, Jan. 14.
That's the official word out of Des Moines Saturday as the Iowa Democratic Party's state central committee met, mostly in closed session, without taking action in response to other states that have moved their contests ahead of the Democratic National Committee's official calendar.
