There is always something about Chicago that is, well, shall we say, a little gangster. There is strong arming, back biting, gun play, bribery and the classic double cross. Never has this been more evident than in the city’s efforts to deal with the plight of its urban poor and public housing. Chicago is arguably one of the most notorious havens for slum lords – one of which was Obama’s associate Tony Rezko. For now we’ll leave out George Soros, Austan Goolsbee, and Brzezinski. City officials have the gall to claim that the Plan for Transformation will help public housing residents—by relocating them into mixed-income and racially diverse neighborhoods. But the evidence so far suggests that most families end up in other segregated and poor neighborhoods—only further away from the central city property that developers have their eyes on.  Read more
