A World of Issues Waiting, Obama and His Foreign Policy Squad Brush Up --

... Besides reaching out to Mr. Scowcroft, Mr. Obama has also called former Secretary of State George P. Shultz, a Reagan administration official who is known in some foreign policy circles as the father of the Bush doctrine because of his advocacy of preventive war. It is unclear what the two men talked about.

Now Mr. Obama and his campaign advisors are floating the idea of keeping Sec'y of Defense GATES on as Sec'y in the "anti-war," Democratic Obama Administration?

Admittedly Mr. Gates's no Rumsfeld.

But gee, this makes Obama's idea of nominating Sen. Lugar for Sec'y of State (R., Chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, one of 8 congressional members briefed by Bush during this war, and famed Obama mentor) look merely conservative.

How quickly things change in Obamaland. It seems like only yesterday he was claiming over and over that his words DO matter. Now he is saying that either we misunderstood what he said or that he didn’t choose the right words.

Bush needed translators to explain what his words were and the media complied; now BO, who seemingly cannot use the words to say what he means, needs the media to translate what words he meant to say.

It appeared for a while there that voters who were fed up with nearly 8 years of the malapropos and fractured syntax of Bush were opting for clarity. They thought BO spoke so clearly when he said things like, “Change” – “Yes we can”, and all his other oft repeated slogans. Then it happened.
