Eric Massa

Thank you Kucinich and Massa

Who Will Stand with Kucinich and Massa?

Of the 88 members of the House who say they are for a single payer national health care system, which ones will stand with Kucinich and Massa for single payer and against Obamacare in the upcoming health care end game?

Only a handful will need to come over to defeat Obama’s bailout of the health insurance corporations.

And trigger a national debate on how to replace those hundreds of health insurance corporations with one single payer.

Eric Massa and Andy Coates in Buffalo

(That would be PNHP's Andy Coates.) Via The Buffalo News:

Several members of St. Bonaventure University’s first class of premedical students in the Franciscan Health Care Program were on hand to help the Health Care Access Coalition, a doctor and a congressman bring the single-payer health care option into focus.

The students and the coalition, along with an audience of about 80 people, gathered Sunday in Walsh Auditorium on campus for a discussion of “Single Payer Health Care Under the Microscope” by Rep. Eric Massa, D-Corning, and Dr. Andy Coates, a physician.

Eric Massa: "A member of Congress should read the legislation, should understand what the problems are ...

.... should listen to all sides of the argument, make himself or herself as available as possible, and to the best of their ability, cast a vote that they think will help their constituents."

And yes, he says that he will vote against HR 3200, and that yes, his constituents, coming to the 47 Town Halls he has held, want him to vote against HR 3200.

Tell him THANK YOU!

This is on Fox News, and near the end of the interview he quotes Ronald Reagan:

We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right.

Now that's how a Democrat should be quoting St Ronnie.

Massa says HR 676 will put money into the economy

During his campaign, Massa backed HR676, which would create a single-payer health system. He says that the bill, which stalled in the House health subcommittee, is still the best option. A good place to start, though, is to pass an expanded state children's health care program, he says.

Senator elect Tom Udall is a cosponsor of HR 676. Sherrod Brown was a cosponsor when he was in the House. Sen. Bernie Sanders is a supporter, so we have three Senators.

Eric Massa is leading, but locked in a recount fight.

With 93 incumbents and 3 new Representatives we have 96 supporters in the House of Representatives and 3 Senators. We are on our way.

NY-29: Wrap-up of first Massa/Kuhl Debate

Kuhl to Massa. You want to repeal tax cuts (Kuhl is talking about the Bush tax cuts) and you want to spend 1 trillion dollars on health care. (HR 676)

Massa deftly turned that around. Roughly paraphrased - “Sure I want to spend 1 trillion dollars on health care because right now we are spending 1.7 trillion dollars so that results in almost a trillion dollars in savings.
