In Texas the state has a department of Parks and Wildlife. In times like the last week (Hurricane Ike, tropical storm Lowell), the State Game Wardens are, literally, lifesavers.
Hurricanes are emergencies. State agencies help people evacuate. TP&WD is no exception.

Say a prayer for all the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and game wardens out there, if you would, so that they don't find the horrorshow that awaited emergency and rescue forces after Katrina; and so that, unlike after Katrina and Rita, life can return to something resembling normal along the Gulf coast.
