Angry

So Canada voted in a Conservative Majority despite what would be best for the country so I went to drown my sorrows in one of the two bars I frequent in town. Upon arrival I was told that I had to go outside because my dog was not allowed. I tried explaining that she was a service dog, even producing her papers which were pushed aside and not even glanced at, and firmly told that it didn't matter that they can refuse service to anyone. I asked if they would say the same if I were blind to which they replied again "we can refuse service to anyone." Read below the fold...

New Study Shows Prop. 8 Success “Not Personal” --

If you live in California and are a Republican, attend church at least once a week, hold socially conservative views, and are 65-years-old or older, you most likely voted "Yes" on Proposition 8 to repeal marriage equality for your gay and lesbian neighbors. Move Along, Aunt Jamima

Thread:

It's quite simple, really. Lawyers work with laws. Sometimes, frequently in fact, they are elected to positions in which they interpret laws, apply them, or write them. Anyone who has spent five minutes looking at the legal environment in that there are incredible, horrifying disparities with respect to the way that white collar and blue collar crimes are adjudicated, and of how the penalties that apply to them are legislated. There are more people of color who are blue collar than white collar. The Republicans have been stacking the nation’s benches with anti-liberty pro-corporations judges for decades, and one is hard pressed to find a friend on the federal bench to the working class, of all colors. So this sucks. Take a look at the numbers in bold in particular: Read below the fold...
