Veterans - Personality Disorder

Personality Disorder has been the scapegoat discharge for some time now. This discharge robs soldiers of benefits, help, and a future life in certain occupations. The military has turned their back on soldiers and just to save a few bucks, the military doctors are ruining the future for over 24,000 soldiers. And now they are trying to do the same thing to me. THIS must stop!

Religious Freedom in the Military: Not for Atheists

FORT RILEY, Kan. — An Army soldier who unsuccessfully tried to hold a meeting for atheists and other non-Christians is suing Defense Secretary Robert Gates and an Army major, saying his right to religious freedom was violated.

The lawsuit filed Monday in federal court alleges a pattern of practices that discriminate against non-Christians in the military.

According to the filing, Spc. Jeremy Hall received permission to distribute flyers around his base in Iraq for a meeting of atheists and non-Christians. When he tried to convene the meeting, Hall said, Maj. Paul Welborne stepped in, threatening to file military charges against Hall and block his re-enlistment.  Read more

Black Helicopters and Microwave Rays

The Dark Wraith, a charming and entertaining Intertubes personality, relates an encounter with one of his students, a determined but math challenged Army regular. DW wonders if he should be concerned to hear from his student that activities on the base include training for dealing with domestic riot control, under the auspices of Homeland Security regulation/protocol.  Read more

War is over, if Uncle Sam Wants You

How about you bring this up to the next asshole that says John Kerry disrespected our troops?

An ABC News undercover investigation showed Army recruiters telling students that the war in Iraq was over, in an effort to get them to enlist.  Read more

Damn, Damn, Damn - I have a grave aversion to Slavery

I swore I was going to have nice anxiety free day. After looking at the tone of today’s posting I see that ain’t gonna happen. So… in the memory of my dear departed ancestors, please let us remember AMERICA spent the majority of its time as slave society. As Lambert has so delightfully informed us there are C-130s ready to take you to the detention center nearest you and set you to work in a civilian inmate labor program .  Read more

Love for Our Military Brothers and Sisters

I’m sure some of our NSA/DoD readers think I’m some kind of left wing wacko who spits on troops and burns flags, but that’s not really true. In that spirit, let’s forget about the war for a second and talk about this. I’m posting the whole thing, but if you go to the site you’ll find that many live links are embedded in the page. Good job, soldiers!

Not that long ago, the idea of the Sierra Club and the Army Corps of Engineers working on the same side of an issue might’ve seemed silly. But these days, the Army sees dependence on foreign oil as a major national security risk. And so the engineers are calling on DC to make a bunch of changes straight out of the environmentalists’ playbook — like mandating better gas mileage and giving out tax credits for green energy. (Although the bit about “open[ing] up Federal lands for oil and natural gas” might not exactly be met with huzzahs at Sierra HQ.)  Read more

I Got Them Keepin' Those Enlistments Up Blues

Yeah, yeah, I know—this sort of thing has gone on since forever. But weren’t we supposed to have a set of higher standards these days? A shiny, high-tech, high-quality military? Some things never change:

A Bangor Area High School senior who admitted his role in a BB-gun shooting spree that blew out about 200 windows and caused nearly $74,000 in damage won’t have to go to prison — but only if he joins the Army and stays in.  Read more
