Sunday Bulb Explosion
Primary tabs
I need a new computer. It was way too much work to get these uploaded. So I'm going to have to limit the pics here to a few and send you to my flickr page, sorry. When I have some time (hah) I really should figure out if there's a faster way to do this, suggestions are appreciated. Now, on to Spring Glory! As always, if you've got any you want to add in the comments, please feel free.
F-something, a bulb I picked up last fall in Holland, MI (TOTALLY WORTH THE TRIP, btw) It's only a little thing today, but it should get to 5 feet high with these fabulous flowers draping down a long stem.
I went nuts on the ruffled double Tulips when I was in Holland. This one popped right up as soon as the ground thawed.
I managed to keep the deer off this one, with a drenching of my new anti-varmint mix. Dishsoap, hot peppers, vinegar and raw eggs in the blender, and then mixed in some water and poured over and around the plant. Hopefully, this will continue to work on deer as well as voles, moles, raccoons and bunnies.
Gotta love the orange.

Awesome!!!
How the heck do you do it? We're six weeks ahead up here, and my tulips and iris are just coming up.
Weird year
The Great Lakes had one of the warmest winters and then springs (so far) in a long, long time. I'm in a little bubble of Zone 5 - because i'm tucked against Superior - and most of the spring bulbs are finishing if they're in a good, sunny location. The forsythia will be done flowering soon and the lilacs will be starting soon. For reference, lilacs are usually an early June event.
Crap, i've gotta mow the grass this week.
i bow before Mother Nature, lb.
i know you're a 5 too, but my guess is that we've had more light and warmth than you this season. it's also been dry, which i guess is good for the early bloomers. you should see my Hellebore. it's its fourth year, and goddayum, it is spectacular. i should go take another shot of it so you can better appreciate it. it was so... unimpressive the first three years, but this year? bam! mamma's gonna knock you out. i love the blood red color, too. so atypical for most spring plants.
light and warmth, tho. light and warmth. learn to hear the music of them, and you'll know when and how to make your stuff come up as it should. which is to say, you don't really have any control over it at all. :-)
flowers!
i lovelovelove those orange whatevertheyare in the first photo.
