Soil temperature 70 degrees in the squash mounds

Did you do something special to get the temp up? Black plastic? I'm all ears. Cold soil has been a real problem this year.

Also, the squash mounds are in one of the sunnier spots. Also, I covered them with seafood compost, which is quite dark -- perhaps that absorbs heat? Just guessing.
