So, were the bag designers given retroactive immunity?

This is the actual bag that will be given to attendees at this year's DNC.

Somebody call for the Bucket Brigade?

Why isn't the AT&T logo on top?

Just sayin.

Where does AT&T get off

Stealing Obama's logo? Oh wait...

SSS, I'm going to change your headline...

... because I think I've got some snark that's too good to let go, but if you object, please change it right back.

That logo is inspiring

Notice how text is oddly missing from this button, cleverly allowing room for later sponsorship.

Is the pony in the bag?

mine is still on backorder.

Yes, the pony is in the bag

Just not this bag.

Grade AAA Snark

in that headline, lambert. And thanks for posting this, scarshapedstar. I've seen it elsewhere, but it can't be posted enough. Mostly because it shows how shameless our political leaders have become in announcing that they're bought and paid for.

Remember when they used to at least have the decency to act ashamed about their corruption?

Teehee

I like it. A little prestidigitation, and... presto! It's a kickass collaborative post!

But I still believe
And I will rise up with fists!!

I'm sure the Nay on FISA SD's will appreciate the humor

Hahaha! How droll.
Hey, don't the SDs vote by secret ballot?

OMG! I just thought of something

Maybe we can get one of those holographic buttons made that change from ATT to Obama logos when their tilted.
Excellent! They can add that to the swag bag. Pretty soon, all the delegates will be wearing them.

Speaking of holograms.

Lame, I know... but has anyone a better idea?

One can only hope

they will be given immunity.

I mean, this is what passes for design now?

Glad to see the Democratic Party standing up for the voters' interest. Yeah, this seriously gives those FISA votes a new spin--vote for FISA, protect us from prosecution, and we'll fund your convention! No deal? How about a BIGGER FIELD?

First time I saw this bag, I didn't even notice the small print

at the top!

It sure seems to more about AT&T than any Dem convention.

Wow, just wow.

RKMK had this up...

...here. i put it up on alegre's blog, too. they really, really don't care how it looks anymore. say hello to our new corporate overlords... wait, it's the same old corporate overlords. they DID change overseers, though.

When the good guys become the bad guys

Once again, everything in life reverts back to a Simpson's episode.

I'm no longer surprised at the media's intrepid determination to trash Hillary to help Obama. Now, I'm no longer surprised that the media is bending over backwards to support Obama--its in their interest to help someone who works hand-in-hand with the media.

McCain may be bad, but . . .

So who's sponsoring

the Rethug convention - suggestions?

Chthulhu Discorporated, proud sponsor...

... of the Republican National Convention....

The Dems are apparently for sale for less

One million versus the GOP's 5 million for private time with the presidential (to-be) nominee...in the GOP's case for dinner and a golf game (I think everyone goes to the same events.)

Great.

Here's the page of the sponsor's logos to add to your own bag!

Funny, I see at least two other telecom companies and some big health insurance companies and some big banks...

The bag looks nice

but I would rather have the 4th Amendment back

The GOP sponsors of their convention

http://minnesota.publicradio.org/display...

Why would local big business give a million dollars to the convention? Do they really make that much more off the gig?

Notice the end:
"The Republican governor's (Tim Pawlenty) increasing role in raising money led his chief of staff to issue an e-mail alert to everyone in the office a few weeks ago.

"It is very important that we all communicate accurately that we are not raising funds for the Republican Party in any way, shape or form," Matt Kramer wrote in the May 30 e-mail.

He added, "As everyone knows, we cannot (and will not!) engage in political work at the office. The Host Committee is not a political group and it is entirely appropriate that the Governor assist in raising funds for a civic event that will bring great attention and economic gain to the Metropolitan area.""

Are the Democrats holding to the same standard? I'm unsure. Read this interview with Denver's Mayor Hickenlooper. He says they are not selling access in the interview, but one, he's spending a lot of time asking--which within certain limits, as Pawlenty above, is probably fine (I say, maybe neither one should do it?); but Hickenlooper does seem to be selling access here to private events, at least to himself and some US Reps...and also, the DNCC is helping the Denver Host Committee (which is a non-profit.) And the Obama campaign was talking about donating too...it does seem that Dem Party money is or will be directly involved. Doesn't that kind of mess up the separate convention funding? (don't know if that's important--unless an access/donation question?)

Talk Left

offers a lovely 4th Amendment alternative bag through Cafe Press - here.

What are the chances of clearing TSA w/ the 4th Amendment tote?

I'm buying a tote anyway, but do you think it would hamper my clearance through airport security? Nevermind, while I know it could be a nifty way of avoiding my next unnecessary business trip, I'm guessing the lock up would be worse.

Get the 4th Amendment one. NTSA can't lock you up for it. N/T

Sarah, I'm sure they shouldn't, likely wouldn't.. .

But would they try? How sad that I'm asking that question even as a joke.

Edited to add: I will be getting the 4th Amendment tote from Talk Left. Was not even thinking about trying to snag one of the corporate swag bags.

Trishb, you're going to the convention?

Would you consider posting a report?

Brilliant, myiq2xu!

"The bag looks nice, but I would rather have the 4th Amendment back."

Ain't that the truth!

We went shopping for American democracy, and all we have to show for it is this lousy bag.

Yes, even the great Mammon is blushing over this deal.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

We are no longer referring to it as...

Its not "retroactive immunity" anymore.

Its "designer immunity". Get with the program.
