I'm missing the back story here. What is it?

In the recent election, Rahm replaced him as candidate, and won. Rahm is now replacing him as mayor.

The photo above is an exit/victory lap/blabfest. Aside from the 20-plus years Chicagoans took it in the back from him, there's no real back story.

...is what he wants Chicagoans to be -- by paying, for the rest of his life -- full round the clock, 24/7 police protection (while the police dept claims to need more police officers), as well as two cars -- one for himself, and one for his wife -- with drivers, of course. I haven't heard whether he wants Chicagoans to pay for his gas, though.

All that's in addition to his pension and health care, while Chicago runs a deficit.

The decision on whether he gets all these perks is up to Rahm.

I lived in Chicago til 1980, and still live in a very close suburb. This really pisses me off.

No other ex-mayor has ever gotten this stuff.
