Obama officials still approving flawed Gulf drilling plan

The Department of Interior's Minerals Management Service has signed off on at least five new offshore drilling projects since June 2, when the agency's acting director announced tougher safety regulations for drilling in the Gulf, a McClatchy review of public records has discovered.

Three of the projects were approved with waivers exempting them from detailed studies of their environmental impact — the same waiver the MMS granted to BP for the ill-fated well that's been fouling the Gulf with crude for two months.

All Obama needs is to become more "politically astute." I'm sure it's going to happen any day now.

But I think, he's a shirt-sighted fool with a very good chance of being a one-term President harassed by a Republican majority in the House during his last two years in office. I think he needs to take a few lessons in political astuteness from the real modern master -- FDR. Maybe he needs to read James MacGregor Burns, Roosevelt: The Lion and the Fox.

And reading the book wouldn't change a damn thing.

He is a bad person with bad intentions. Why is that so hard to believe? What has he ever done that wasn't petty, self-serving and/or corrupt? He let the poor in his district freeze while a Chicago Senator. He run a dirty campaign for Congress by getting his opponent thrown off the ballot, and an even dirtier one for President, gaming the caucuses, stealing votes and delegates in Michigan and Florida, and smearing Hillary and Bill Clinton as racists.

As President, he has consistently passed "reforms" that are nothing but industry giveaways which harm the poor and women.

He is a bad person who does bad things. That's just the obvious, simple truth.

The sooner people stop attributing motives and beliefs to him that he doesn't have, the better off they will be, IMHO. The truth is always better than a comforting fairy tale.
