I have concluded that I should not permit the Presidency to become involved in the partisan divisions that are developing in this political year.

With America's sons in the fields far away, with America's future under challenge right here at home, with our hopes and the world's hopes for peace in the balance every day, I do not believe that I should devote an hour or a day of my time to any personal partisan causes or to any duties other than the awesome duties of this office--the Presidency of your country.

Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President.

I arrived late as I usually do and see what immediately came to my mind, the LBJ speech.

Just say the words Barry and then walk off, head held high, nose in the air.

someone actually has leadership ability, and I think we are seeing that play out rather starkly.

So, rather than saying something that would get the mojo back, he needs to say something that will show that (1) he has the ability to lead, and, (2)understands how to create leadership mojo.

As near as I can tell, this Adventure in Presidentin' is all about being popular and admired and being all things to as many people as possible; on that basis, Oprah should be president, right?

And, for what it's worth, Obama needs to stop confusing rhetoric with leadership, pack the teleprompter away and start taking action that will demonstrate who he is, whether there is anything at his center but gooey marshmallow filling, and take the risks that are part of the leadership package.

I don't think he can do it, but others may disagree.

he must DO.

The Village will never admit that saying you're doing something, and actually doing it, are two different things. Hence, the call for "One More Speech" which will somehow fix all the actions he has never taken, and will never take, no matter how many times he says he's going to.
