If you have "no place to go," come here!

Sharia

Via Violet, Riverdaughter is right:

With anti-abortion measures, women are not just subject to the state, they are forced to recognize a religious presence in their lives whether they have faith or not. Men do not need to recognize any faith. They are allowed complete freedom of conscience.

Of course, for "progressives"....

That's a two-fer!

NOTE Anybody still want to put any energy at all into either legacy party? Even for a "Hope and Change" commemorative plate?

"Moreover, freedom in America is indivisible from the freedom to practice one's religion. That is why there is a mosque in every state in our union, and over 1,200 mosques within our borders. That's why the United States government has gone to court to protect the right of women and girls to wear the hijab and to punish those who would deny it. "

--President Barack Hussein Obama, Cairo Speech, 6/04/09

This was the only part of Obama's famed Cairo speech speech that mentioned women. Considering that radical Muslims kill, maim and torture women for horrible sins such as showing a flash of wrist in public, Obama's lack of acknowledgment of the reality of women's oppression was not well-received by anyone who was paying attention. Obama's words promised protection for religious oppression against women, not protection for women who wish to be free from religious oppression. And so, the "health care" bill, created by and for the religious right by our oh-so-feminist President Obama and the Democratic Congress, becomes a statement that women, once again, have no protection from religious persecution. So much for the separation of church and state in our American Theocracy.

It's funny that people still don't believe there is a patriarchy. Funny like a fucking heart attack. What will it take before we kick these "religious" lunatics out of the people's house?

control their religious fundamentalists, we should get our own house in order.

In fact, let me restate that: we have no business telling other countries what they should do, since we are so manifestly in thrall to our own religious fundamentalists.
