Save USPS Demonstrations Start in New York City
Finally. I hope this is just the very beginning of a huge s**t storm. Predictably, the first rumored casualties are beautiful pieces of real estate -- e.g. the Chelsea station -- sure to be sold for a song to the croniest developer available.
I spoke to a USPS employee at the window of the Varick St. station last week. He said that the front-line employees are being told nothing about whether their particular post office is "on the list" for closure and sale. I asked him about the union and he gave me a look that seemed to mean -- "you think they do anything helpful"?
