Christianists ask FBI to investigate hotel porn:
What is it, demonic forces seize control of their bodies, call the front desk, and force them to put porn on their credit cards? What is it with these guys?
A coalition of 13 conservative groups — including the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America — took out full-page ads in some editions of USA Today earlier this month urging the Justice
Department and FBI to investigate whether some of the pay-per-view movies widely available in hotels violate federal and state obscenity laws.
Does the Dark Lord strap them down on their beds and force them to pay?
The coalition also is trying to draw attention to CleanHotels.com, a directory of hotels and motels nationwide that pledge to exclude adult offerings from their in-room entertainment service.
So, hasn’t the magic of the marketplace taken care of the problem already, then?
If you don’t want to go to a hotel that puts “adult offerings” on the market, check the site, and don’t go there.
And why is it the magic of the marketplace with these guys, until one of their little hot buttons gets pushed, and then they call in the Feds?
“These are places that you take your family — these are respectable institutions,” said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. “Anything that brings porn into the mainstream is a concern. It just desensitizes people.”
Well, look. I know logic has nothing to do with any of this, but if they’re “respectable,” then porn is already mainstream, right?
NOTE Has anybody done any research on porn and plain-brown-wrapper “toy” purchases where Christianists domininate? Just asking.
