Romney takes principled stand against forced pregnancy

AP:

"I have indicated that as governor, I am absolutely committed to my promise to maintain the status quo with regards to laws relating to abortion and choice, and so far I've been able to successfully do that," Romney says, answering a question at a May 27, 2005, news conference the day he vetoed the state's stem cell legislation.

Lambert, are you mad?

Oh, wait. This is that "Irony" stuff, innit? Or just an excuse to let me use the Quote of the Day over at TPM:

"The real Romney is clearly an extraordinarily ambitious man with no perceivable political principle whatsover. He is the most intellectually dishonest human being in the history of politics."

— Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA), in an interview last night with New England Cable News.

I am *so* jealous of youze New Englanders. Sigh.

The only principal that Mittunswillard has any interest in is the one that the little guy never gets near paying down on his credit card debt.

Romney fooled enough Massachusetts voters to get himself elected, but in a break with tradition he was not able to get his LG elected after him. Not that Kerry Healey didn't help herself immensely in losing to Deval Patrick.

Being from the true Midwest, Omaha (where I vacationed a few weeks back) I have been told by some folks there that they think Romney's the real deal. He's so, so handsome and presidential. In a way I hope that he gets the nomination. The issue of his seculareligious moderate fundamentalism will then be a very tough issue to dodge.

Mitt is the poster boy ( and I do mean boy ) for aemoral political opportunism. It's odd that Barney Frank (for whom I have a great deal of respect) has stayed above the fray. I'm wondering if he will stump for whoever the dems run if the deliberately vague Mr. Romney makes it to the title bout.
