Reid names Baucus, Kerry, Murray to Committee of the Twelve Caesars

If these three are in fact Harry Reid's appointees, progressives must mobilize. Social Security and Medicare, the basic promises we make to one another, the programs that workers pay into in order to have a modicum of security after a life of hard work, are now clearly at risk.

Yup.

This is an important moment for our country. Millions of Americans are struggling in this tough economy, working overtime to pay the bills, find a job, and find a way forward for their families, and they want this Committee to force the federal government to make similar sacrifices without the red hot partisanship and brinksmanship of the last months.

Read the whole thing. I found one mention of jobs, in the graf above.

But the three senators seem to be living in FOX News World, or something very like it. They see a public demanding that the committee "force the federal government to make" sacrifices similar to those families have to make. What propaganda bildge. What Obama propaganda bamboozlement. What Republican propaganda lies.

People want taxes increased, especially on the rich; they want balanced cuts; and they want SocSec, Medicare, Medicaid and other programs which help them to be protected.

And people sure as hell would like some assistance in getting a job.

I think we need to swamp them with postcards printed with the Twelve Word Platform.

And tell them they will be determining whether there is a viable Democratic Party or not. Without voters, there may be a party bureaucracy -- but it won't last long.

*If the push for transparency is enacted, perhaps the Committee of the Twelve Caesars will not be quite so exactly Obama's Politburo.
