Testing, Testing. Check, Check. Trying it out. I just had to say to you guys, it sure is fun reading all you blogs & comments, but the main reason I had to post is because I noticed the QOTD this AM and thought: this is so typical, I can hardly understand why they would even bother to put it up. This is the one I’m typing about:
QOTD
Half of the American people have never read a newspaper. Half have never voted for President. One hopes it is the same half.
— Gore Vidal
All you liberals are so far more enlightened than everyone else - it’s amazing that you can be so inclusive.

Front page
Welcome aboard Civil Un-Wrest, but, um
Maybe I’m a little dense this morning but I’m not sure I get your point. Aside from the fact that Gore Vidal does not himself, alas, actively post here so is unable to expand on his statement himself, I am not sure why you find his quote worthy of disdain.
Are you saying that people should not work to inform themselves about the candidates, issues, etc., including by such means as reading newspapers, before voting? Is this a slam at newspapers in particular, since if so I think everybody here will rise to applaud you. We slam newspapers all the time.
And I think it’s safe to take “newspapers” as shorthand for media in general. There we don’t just slam, we essentially exist for the purpose of ferreting out real news that the media hides on inside pages, puts on a scroll at the bottom of the screen while the screen itself is filled with the latest update on some celebrity misbehavior, or ignores entirely.
Gosh, if you think about it, Civ, that makes us a newspaper of sorts! With a 10 (+) person staff who function entirely as copy editors, dedicated to extracting the truth from truthiness as Colbert would put it, from the aboveground media industry.
And the fact that you were able to sign in, and set up your own page, and post to the front page here just like you were a Senior Fellow (no “getting approval to frontpage” like at Kos, no invitation even, most certainly at no required fee) would seem to confirm that we are about as inclusive as all get out, wouldn’t it?
We apprecate your approval as indicated by your participation in our effort. Guess that makes you one of “you liberals” too now doesn’t it? :)
ps, pass the bourbon and the steak over this way, woudja hon? Breakfast of champions I always say.
i am not a blob! nor common, sir!
oh, you said you blogs and comments. never mind.
do you have a point upon which you’d like to expand? perhaps something salient about today’s primary event here in MI? perhaps there is a candidate who you could support, by your efforts here, extolling him/her with details, for those liberals who don’t know of her/his better qualities? that’s a nice function of a “blog & comment-” it gives you a chance to respond, as well as make an ass our of yourself the first time out of the box.
grown-up conversation is structured like that, feel free to join us here and have some.
here, i’ll start: i voted for Ron Paul in the Republican primary. I was denied my Consitutional rights, and my candidate isn’t on the ballot here. My vote was a protest vote, in hopes that Ron will make good on his promises, and at the Republican convention do everything in his power to end the war. do you have a comment about that?
I think we should call it Declension 2008
because there are no verbs so far, only nouns.
no, no liberty!
there are plenty of “action words” in all the campaigns! that’s what’s so great about “hope” and “experience” and “change.” they’re dessert toppings, and floor waxes!
Ahhhhh!
CD! stop the language talk.
OK, I’m good. Just had a flash back.
