President-Elect Barack Hussein Obama

WOW.

What America has just done in such a gigantic way.

Just. WOW!!! I keep getting repeatedly teary.

Just deliver, Mr. Obama. That's all we want, now.

We NEED a NEW New Deal.

The GOP tears.... They are delicious.

I will save them up tonight, and make coffee from them in the morning... EXTRA bitter!

I gotta say

I've never teared up from a politician's speech, but as soon as I saw him on the stage with his kids, I was weepy, because -- dammit -- this was Real all of a sudden.

I've barely stopped smiling since then. I just got back from Ebenezer Baptist Church, which is about 4 blocks from my apartment. I'll have to put up some pictures and videos eventually. It was a like a little Mardi Gras out there, and I seemed to be the only one with beer... :)

But I still believe
And I will rise up with fists!!

Thanks Monkeyfister; Wow Is how I feel, too

Come back here and join the discussion of what it all means, because it means all kinds of complicating things.

Scarshapedstar, please do posts your report and the photos. MSNBC had some cameras there, but nothing like a first-person telling.

Stop the Bleeding Quickly

As Krugman points out, the remains of the day are the most intractable.

Even now, the Bush-Cheney criminal cabal moves swiftly to rearrange the world to their advantage while they can.

We need to stop this now. Now, the Democratic Congress needs to move on Impeachment of Bush and Cheney to open the way for their criminal prosecution.

Even if it does not pass, it may serve to keep them from doing incredible damage in the time that remains of their administration.

No Hell below us
Above us, only sky

Off The Table

There will be no impeachment, especially now that we're firmly in the honeymoon of bipartisanship. We just elected a new president who promises hyper-bipartisanship. Hell, we can't even get our congressional Dems to give us no-brainer legislation such as voting against retroactive immunity. If we can't get them to do that, well then "impeachment" may as well be an unspeakable four-letter word.

Impeachment would send the Village into the tizzy, and the new and improved Democratic majority wouldn't want to risk such a thing. After all, the Village is their base and who they work for. They can't do anything to risk losing seats in 2010, and then after that they can't risk Obama losing 2012, and, well, you know the rest.

But, we've always been at war with Eastasia...

i feel you on this.

it was beautiful. what a night. what a day.

Garsh, I wasn't that moved. If you need a symbolic president,

you've got it. As Damon so aptly touched on, let's see how things work out with this new post-partisan presidency. I suspect a whole lot of nuttin'.

And impeachment? In your dreams.

not feel-good public officials who have jobs to do.

i'm with elixir.

Has Obama ever...ever...talked about impeachment?! I'm

mystified by the introduction of this idea which confirms my suspicions that many people are expecting something to happen that's just not there.

I would like to think that Obama is going to wake up this morning and have a nice progressive agenda set out right next to his coffee cup. It's just not going to happen. He's backed away from every position and had played footsie with everyone across the aisle. When was the last time the guy stood up to someone in the same room? Oh, except for Hillary, of course, she doesn't count. The answer, never.

I love this job!
