...but then our wonderful prison industrial complex would crumble under the weight of little crime and no revenue...
The massive militarized police force would be left with nothing to do...
Except enforce pre-crime; coming soon to a neighborhood near you...

Many contracts depend on the level of crime being maintained, and a contract is a contract, unless it's for an elder's pension or with a union.

If the Times is recommending this, you can be sure it has nothing to do with justice, but with some larger purpose.

NYT's clients -- FIRE and private equity -- casting about for the next Extractive Monopoly now that they're down to profiting from poors (e.g., those shyster-car-loan derivatives, debt collection from poor people, etc.): next up is MARIJUANA INC. (TM) - and GMO at that!
