Why abolishing the corporate income tax is good for American workers

Editor’s Note: Our regular Social Security columnist Larry Kotlikoff is taking a week off from answering your Social Security questions. This week, he’s addressing readers’ concerns with his call in the New York Times to abolish the corporate income tax.

On Jan. 5, I published an op-ed in the New York Times titled “Abolish the Corporate Income Tax.”

I hope Sharon Percy Rockefeller and Dalton Delan are real proud of the right wing pig slop WETA produces. Ask your local PBS station to replace The NewsHour with The Real News Network. It is really important to let them know that this is not acceptable.

Again, great idea!

PBS and NPR show the power of branding. They don't have to be liberal to be called liberal. A generation of liberals grew up listening to them and continue to think of them as liberal decades after they ceased to be even remotely so. It's not what they are but the branding which counts. It's rather like John McCain, dyed in the wool conservative, but none of that matters. He's a maverick. Why? because of McCain-Feingold. It wasn't all that earth-shaking of a reform and has been largely superseded or repealed, but it earned McCain the maverick brand that he has drafted off of ever since. His other brand is "straightshooter" which is enormously funny when you consider he was one of the Keating Five. But again none of this matters. McCain is a maverick because he is a maverick. He's a straightshooter because he's a straightshooter. And PBS and NPR are liberal because they are liberal. That's just how our kabuki system works.
