While misleading because....
....determining patterns on a state aggregate level is likely to be highly inaccurate, it's still a general pattern that I've observed being a former constant mover (living in 38 states within 20 years). I think his most accurate statement is on Extraversion/Introversion, a pattern highly noticeable in the largely introverted Pacific NW--a pattern, as a social researcher, I'm highly interested in finding the anthropoligical roots of (Nordic tradition I believe).
I think it'd be fun to take this data and attach it to levels of ethnicities, income, and social traditions, as well as the spatial representation of people (what is the pattern of living, commute time, etc). I think that would make it more accurate. Never been a big fan of the accuracy of Psychology.
And I think I just sucked all the fun out of this thing...
Michigan Should Have Gotten First For Neuroticism
I've never seen a people more stressed, more worried, more downcast than us Michiganders. Read our newspapers, watch our news, we revel and wallow in misery. It's often one of the first thing folks notice when they either move to or from Michigan.
I don't know how we ranked so high in agreeableness, one or only two categories where we broken from being the average or middle.
