Maine's Governor LePage on banning bisphenol-A in consumer products:

"[I]f you take a plastic bottle and put it in the microwave and you heat it up, it gives off a chemical similar to estrogen. So the worst case is some women may have little beards."

LePage, an R, was elected because the Ds were corrupt, so the voters punished them.

So let's hope that the Rs take out some Ds before going down in flames themselves. Listing, Rep. Issa?

that there was no context for his remark, other than one person saying it was wrong and bad for children.

There's a bit more in this version, which is still pitifully lacking in context and explanation. But...a "bit" more, a touch of explanation as to why the governor's remarks are so off base.

Lisa Pohlmann, executive director of the Natural Resources council of Maine says LePage's comment is "not only ignorant, it really is an insult. It shows callous disregard for the health of women and children."

"And it also shows that Gov. LePage does not understand the science," Pohlmann says. "The science clearly shows that bisphenol-A attacks the brains of developing children and can set the stage for a lifetime of health problems. Some of those health problems are learning disabilities, breast and prostate cancer, reproductive damage, and diabetes. These are not small diseases, these are huge diseases, and is this the legacy he intends to leave Maine people?"

An example of our press not really reporting, even when using an AP prepared article?
