I am pretty sure that I read that new Latino immigrants are actually healthier overall; that, like other immigrant groups, they don't develop all our typical health problems until they have been here for awhile.

So, if they were to buy into the pool, it would actually be beneficial to the system.

Undocumenteds will need some place to go. Limiting it to emergency rooms only increases the health care insurance costs for us all.

I listen to the right wing line and I think, you know, the germs don't care. The illness doesn't care. The loss of productivity doesn't care. Why do the damn politicians care?

Latinos are pretty upset up here. They were promised immigration reform, and now nobody is talking about them at all. They feel like they are not being heard. There's talk of a census boycott here, which could result in one less Congressperson for MA.

This is what happens when you bargain with people of ill will. Obama's going to ride the bipartisan bandwagon until he's the only one left and it's dashed into collection of roadside boulders, all the while the rest of us got thrown off this errant wagon which has always originally been meant to take us from point A to point B in the fastest manner. Instead, he goes all through the woods to please folks that have no intention of doing anything other than trying to destroy him, but more importantly, true change.

The Joe Wilson outburst, deservedly, gets attention for its unprecedented lack of decorum, and the man deservedly gets attention because it turns out he's a racist, Southern, Good Ole Boy tool of a man. But, at the end of the day, far more important than any of that was the horror that was the actual speech in which he watered down his already watered down plan. It quite literally sounded like something one of the few moderate Republicans left would have proposed to Congress. Mandates to buy private insurance? Malpractice reform? Maybe an (anemic) public option? Stupidly shutting out illegal immigrants so they'll continue to add cost on the back end of the system (i.e. emergency room primary care)? This stuff was downright horrific.
