ObamaCare Clusterf**k: Skinny Plans in the News (FDL)
Except Lambert scooped the world on this one ages ago. And I don't see (in the FDL article) the WH response: "We are really very surprised that employers are embracing these." [paraphrase] And I'm a little bit upset that FDL did not majorly hat-tip Lambert on being the only serious journalist on this beat and/or cross link to the growing library of superb ObamaCare Clusterfuck articles. Anyway. Here's FDL on skinny plans, not pulling punches (cool):
Basically these skinny plans will be insurance in name only. [True that.] Since the “insurance” will not actually insure against any real medical problems it will cost the companies very little to offer. This will allow the company to cheaply avoid the bulk of the penalty by technically claiming they offer some form of coverage. [Hey, companies have rights too; and no obligation to offer their "human resources" health care. Because Free Market; and workers are losers.]
Of course if any employee mistakenly believes this insurance is worth anything and gets seriously sick
m>they will be financially ruined. One of the biggest problems with Obamacare is that it depends on everyone being insurance experts. [Yep.]
President Obama has repeatedly said the point of his signature law is that “nobody should go bankrupt if they get sick.” Allowing these plans to qualify makes his statement more of a sick punchline than a promise.
Nevertheless, more coverage on these nasty (and seemingly infinite) Easter Eggs hiding in ACA the better.
The comments aren't pulling any punches either and some are quite ... punchy. (And not just our own joe6pac). For example: "McSuranceTM"
Maybe the almost-olds, almost-poors, and olds and sicks are starting to understand the magnitude of the Con that is ObamaCare, a complex but carefully engineered machine to impoverish and die off American citizens who have dutifully paid taxes, worked, believed in the lies, etc.
