Obama to establish Social Security and Medicare Gutting Commission by executive order

Because bad ideas never die.

And because there's no waste at the Pentagon forever and ever, amen.

If only the Democrats controlled the House, the Presidency, and the Senate!

what will happen if the GOP gains the majority in congress and BO gets to do his Reagan-lite impersonation with their full cooperation.

Really looking forward to hearing the Plouffe-designed message to be rolled out tonight on this little gem.

Am guessing this will be one of his "courageous" acts - you know, doing what Congress was afraid to do.

left: howls of anger
right: mainly derision

Is it just me, or does the word 'howls' have a tinge of frustration and helplessness about it? Plus, of course, unserious emotionalism.

Someone recently noted here that they thought Obama was going to try to run against Congress to get his reelection prospects up -- that's what this sounds like. If just the proposal for such a commission couldn't earn 60 votes, how's the commission's recommendations going to do it?

That is, if the whole thing isn't just more meme-churning from the perpetual campaign machine.

the way to beat this is to have a campaign directed at the Financial Services Roundtable. Will try to have a post about this tonight.

...unlike the commission proposal killed by the Senate, Mr. Obama’s executive order could not force Congress to vote on a commission’s suggestions.

So the executive order approach is a retreat on Obama's part.

... would be to drop the idea entirely, like the piece of shit it is. Instead, Obama endorses it. Not a good thing.
