UPDATE: Now I've reread the post a few times, since it isn't long. If it is deep snark, well a.) I still don't get it, and b.) uh, no b., but I changed it to be a question mark just in case. I would have rather she said something like "good thing we didn't get Universal Health Care", rather than talking about one way cruises down the Danube.

I read this just the opposite way
This reads very much like a "Fuck it, these people really are hosers!" post to me.
Jeralyn's talking about death with dignity, which this part of the wretched Obamacare program would not even have afforded her!
I read it as okanogen did
First, a narrow understanding of the consequences of public policy decisions -- based almost solely on her own situation -- is consistent with Jeralyn's political analysis generally. So that's the background to start. Second, this sentence -- "Others may feel differently, and that's their choice" refers to the "choice" (interesting phrasing, that) to go to a nursing home rather than the ice floes/Danube, does not read like snark, in context.
Had she thrown out the "that's their choice" line in reference to the one accurate point she made -- that the long term care plan was likely another profit-guarantee for the insurance cos -- she would have been making another point entirely. But that point is just a throwaway at the end.
I still say Soylent Green is the answer, to several important
looming problems: How to deal with the non-wealthy ill elderly* unable to care for themselves and how to feed the non-wealthy 99%ers of all ages.
Suicide is not that easy, especially for elderly people who may be unable to acquire drugs to use or be able to effect a successful effort to kill themselves. Thus, if long term care if not going to be an affordable option, let's at least have "death with dignity," allowing the individual at least some control over when and how to die. And the ill people will have the satisfaction knowing they're making a genuine contribution to the well-being of their fellow human beings.
Obama opted to not have universal health CARE, Medicare for All Improved, as his legacy. So, why not Obama Self-Selection Intake Centers (OSSIC) for the Soylent Green manufacturing and recycling industry?
Surely that would be a legacy worth working for, Pres. Obama.
*Children under the age of consent will have to provide a signed parental pernission form to be able to make this last, great sacrifice for the good of the nation.
