Walked in the door to catch a snippet from the President's speech today, apparently calling for supplemental private savings accounts. Of course, Harkin just happens to have the legislation ready to push through--possibly at the time that a "Grand Bargain" is struck. (Who knows the timetable?)

From what I heard of the tail end of the speech, one would have thought they were listening to a "Club For Growth" lecture (if they could decipher the doublespeak, that is).

It was a "masterful" speech--he threw a bone to EVERY bucket--and I mean every one of them!

The tragedy is that I can see where many very naïve individuals would "eat this speech up."

The cynicism displayed was absolutely shameful.

Anyway, I was "DuckDucking" for a transcript of today's speech, when I ran across this rather interesting article from the "No Labels" website.

Obama Begins Push For New National Retirement System
'It feels just like the beginning of the debate over health care'

(National Senior Council) A recent hearing sponsored by the Treasury and Labor Departments marked the beginning of the Obama Administration’s effort to nationalize the nation’s pension system and to eliminate private retirement accounts including IRA’s and 401k plans, NSC is warning.

The hearing, held in the Labor Department’s main auditorium, was monitored by NSC staff and featured a line up of left-wing activists including one representative of the AFL-CIO who advocated for more government regulation over private retirement accounts and even the establishment of government-sponsored annuities that would take the place of 401k plans.

“This hearing was set up to explore why Americans are not saving as much for their retirement as they could,” explains National Seniors Council National Director Robert Crone, “However, it is clear that this is the first step towards a government takeover. It feels just like the beginning of the debate over health care and we all know how that ended up.”

Apparently, unions are complicit in the scheme to privatize Social Security. Although I'm sure that they would not characterize this move as doing that. Don't buy for a New York minute that this is not the ultimate goal. It may not happen in my lifetime, but it will, if this ever goes through. All one has to do is read "The Moment Of Truth." Social Security is on track to become a "means tested," and therefore, a welfare program.

Some in the Dem Leadership (as shown by the video that I've posted of Dem Leader James Clyburn) have quite openly voiced their support of "means testing" Social Security.

Like the implementation of the PPACA was necessary in order to begin the conversation and process of raising the eligibility age for Medicare, Harkin's bill will be rammed through, and fully implemented in order to set the table for transitioning to a private national pension system, eventually (in place of Social Security).

And explain that his plan is to kill everyone off who needs a job, wages, health insurance, a home, food, electricity, a few K in the bank for retirement.

He should offer the option of the quick way -- fake soap bar and a voucher to fake showers. I'm sure he can get one of his DOD vendors to build those.

Why? Because the way he's doing it now -- most recently with this insidious sh** about "New Retirement System" and "New Health Care System" and "Grand Bargains" -- just strings people along, wringing them to death with stress, anxiety, fear, indignities, etc.

And he sure as hell is not making morphine drips available free of charge. Just look at his lackey Holder's war on friggin' pot (despite it's legality under state laws).

LS hadn't mentioned recently what an A**hole Obama is, so I thought I'd jump in. Lambert -- how's the painting and plastering going? :) :)

Sorry, Lambert, packing a vehicle--in the rain--to began a 1700-mile trip in a couple of hours, so I can't take the time to help you locate a link (I didn't bookmark it--sorry!).

Let me clarify--if I hadn't been so rushed, I would have come back and made it clearer--this piece was not "written by" No Labels (not sure if my wording implied that--but it was not intended to do so).

Indeed, as best as I can tell, it was authored by the "National Senior Council," which is named at the beginning of the piece.

I found it at a website that had a green and black grid background, with "No Labels" in large black letters, as I recall.

Here's the actual "blurb." Apologize that in my hurry, I didn't indent the piece.

Hope this helps.

Judging from the AARP piece that you've linked to, my guess is that this "blurb" is a partial excerpt of an original article.

BTW, can't believe the absolute "hit job" that the entire corporatist mainstream media (including AP--a wire service, for crying' out loud), MSNBC, so-called "left" talk, etc., etc., is doing.

It's even more intense than when the corporatist Establishment Dems drove him our of the Congress, a year ago.

The Lesson: Beware "Liberals."

This is chilling. ;-(
