Not to try taking the shine off Elizabeth Warren's halo....
... but could we give consideration to the idea that making sure mortgage documents are not fraudulent, and that their chain of title is clear, is far more important than ensuring that they are readable?
It's unfortunate that Warren, for whom I have considerable respect, is reinforcing the pernicious talking point that the epidemic of accounting control fraud by banksters and services is really just a "paperwork" problem. Because that's exactly the frame in which fixing that paperwork will be placed.
Alas, Warren's almost certainly well-meaning efforts will provide Obama with a useful "Mission accomplished!" moment in the 2012 campaign, which is now well under way. No orange jumpsuits here!
