Nixonian Stonewalling - Bush refuses subpoena for Gonzales Documents
"With respect, it is with much regret that we are forced down this unfortunate path which we sought to avoid by finding grounds for mutual accommodation," White House counsel Fred Fielding said in a letter to the chairmen of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees. "We had hoped this matter could conclude with your committees receiving information in lieu of having to invoke executive privilege. Instead, we are at this conclusion."
Translation: Fuck off! I’m The Decider.
"Increasingly, the president and vice president feel they are above the law," said Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. He portrayed the president's actions as "Nixonian stonewalling."
Increasingly??? From the day he entered office he was rolling all clandestine like.
The Bush White House has drafted an executive order that would usher in a new era of secrecy for presidential records and allow an incumbent president to withhold a former president's papers even if the former president wanted to make them public.
(Remeber when he sealed the Presidential Papers)
Between the “Decider and Chief” locking up the Republic and Cheney doing his best the “Reichstag is burning” routine(I did not say this I was not here). It’s no wonder China is worried about Israel going to war (Yes! Coming soon to a theatre near you)
