I think rail photographers call this effect "glint."
And here is New London proper, showing the main attraction:
Top left, the General Dynamics plant where the submarine leg of America's nuclear tripod is constructed (or much of it). I remember as a child coming to New England for the summer, seeing the submarines tied up on that same side of the Thames, about the size of blue whales but slimmer, and black. There was no General Dynamics plant, then, and today's submarines are much, much bigger; check the size of the doors for scale.
