Corrente

If you have "no place to go," come here!

Minor site improvements

Readers, if you could add any feature requests, bug sightings, or site issues here, that would be great.

* * *

Here's the list of chores!

1. Joining groups works for some but not all. This is especially important to start a NOTA group, so it's at the top of the list.

6. The IE8 highlighting bug. I was able to reproduce this, but haven't been able to fix it. (Alert reader jawbone has a workaround, but shouldn't have to!) Can any of the IE8 users who are experiencing weird selection issues tell me when the problem started?

2. Straighten out why maps don't appear in Events any more; the site seems to have gotten confused during the period just before the server upgrade, when I was throwing switches on or off all the time to keep the hamster cages turning, so there's some sort of installation or configuration issue to run down.

3. Broken title links on the front page, and on glossary pages. Still don't know why that's happening. I could use some help from a second techie on this one; somehow, the site and/or the server is rewriting these URLs, which are relative, after the page is built, but I don't see where. It's not the .htaccess file, and if you know what that means, you're probably somebody I'd like to talk to.

4. The links under and around "Communications" tools in the middle sidebar need to be tinkered with. So expect a little construction late at night, though nothing that would make the site blow up.

5. Get those captions rotating with the images in the logo area!

And when these chores are crossed off, or maybe even before, I can get the Corrente marketplace up and running!

Groups is not working for me but as you note, we need to get a NOTA group up and running.

libbyliberal or Lambert - can you get the ball rolling under a post entitled "NOTA in November"? I can work on the post later today, but it won't be worth much unless the group can be set up as a result and I don't know what to say about joining the group unless I know the mechanics of how to set one up.

I'm so glad you're taking this on; making the group link work is at the top of my chores list, but the madness of getting the server moved, which took a week longer than I thought it would, just had to come first.
