Mental Illness Affected 20 Percent of Americans Last Year

That's 45 million people, according to a new survey by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Yet fewer than 4 in 10 (less than 38 percent) received any treatment for their condition.

Not surprisingly, the survey found that the unemployed, women and young people (18 - 25) had the highest rates of mental illness.
