Donna Brazile was hit by pepper spray as she walked to the Xcel Center at the start of the Republican Convention here.

Of course it is Donna Brazile so it might not have been the police doing the spraying. Perhaps it was simply someone familiar with her work.

Apparently, having a reunion with a bunch of her BFFs, from what the linked NYT article would seem to be saying. I knew she was best buds with that paragon of tolerance, Bay Buchanan, but that she had cozied up to Karl Rove is news to me.

I'm actually sorry I read that article, BDB. Last thing I need these days is higher blood pressure or deeper depression about our politics.

BD, I know you too well by now. I actually hesitated about clicking on the link because I suspected you had something new and ugly. OK, it's old and ugly, but it was new to me.

I wish some Bob Woodward type, maybe one with more credibility, would do some in-depth inside history of the Dem. Party over the last, say, 15 years because I sure as heck have lost track of how all this has happened.

Seems like only yesterday I was beside myself with excitement to hear Howard Dean say, "I'm from the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party" to wild cheers.

I feel like I went through the looking glass without realizing it.

For those who may not know or remember, Donna has been giving aid and comfort to Republicans for years. Not just in those NYT puff pieces, but serving as bipartisan cover for neocon think tanks along with people like Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman. Of course, after getting bipartisan cover, the FDD turned on Democrats (shocking!) and ran ads this year against Democrats for not supporting the surveillance bill (if only they knew then what we know now!) causing Brazile and others to resign.

In Minnesota there is a bumper sticker WWWD, for What Would Wellstone Do? I doubt Wellstone would have done this, but I doubt he would have been crying too much about it.

Oh well, I'm sure her Mama gave her good advice on how to deal with this too....

I don't give a flying eff that she's supposedly an analyst for CNN. She's supposedly a dem and an Obama supporter.

This coziness among the Washington bubble people is intolerable. She's supposed to be an Obama supporter, one who helped push him over the finish line.

I don't care if she "works" for CNN. She shouldn't be anywhere near the republican convention.

Why shouldn't she be there? I guess I'd understand if we knew that she invited herself to cover the convention, but we don't have that evidence.

BTW, am I going to hell if I read "Donna Brazile was hit by bus" before I caught my Freudian slip? "Hit by pepper spray" seems to be such an odd way of describing a pepper spray attack.

I wouldn't mind seeing Donna get a pie in the face...*blowing on dog whistle*
