Drinking games? "Butt-Chugging the Election: Your 2012 Presidential Debate Drinking Games":

Just to be on the safe side, though, don't believe the pundits. Treat this event with the respect it deserves: settle in front of the TV and your favorite wiseass's Twitter feed and get thoroughly polluted. What tonight holds in store for everyone will only be certain 48 hours later, via political time-dilation, and there will be a truth unique to each party anyway. Being sober for it only increases understanding, which only reifies the need for drink.

Because I've can only listen with half an ear, I'll go here, but for those of you who don't already have a favorite, wiseass, may I suggest VastLeft?

OK, off to strap myself into the straitjacket so I can't throw anything through the screen or hurt myself pounding my head on the desk. Gimme a glazed!

Tune into the Democracy Now! Live stream to hear voices of reason.

Obama and Romney are spending more time than they are allotted explaining how much they are alike, though Mitt is flinging poo at Barack while he waves a magic wand and grunts.

What I want to see: O asking R about the 47%, and why he pretends to want their votes tonight. Then, I want to see R ask O the same question.

It somehow managed to be far more asinine than even I expected. Or maybe I just overestimated my own masochism. And the streams I found of Stein and Anderson weren't watchable. I'll take a look at them later when it's not live.

It's more like Ali's Rope-a-Dope, except Obama has no intention of pummeling his fellow debater before the bell rings at the end of the 15th Round.

To mix a metaphor, crudely, he thinks his shit doesn't stink, and he's above it all. It comes across as the same b.s. coming from a different asshole.

When you're the POTUS and you're in the bubble, no one in the WH tells you when you're full of shit, and no one in your Party tells you your full of shit, and when you think you have no time to read the blogs you never, encounter anyone who's telling you that you're full of shit.

So, after two or three months of this, you cease to believe that you can ever be full of shit, and you even begin to jail people who still make every effort to tell you that you are!

I had actually typed out a comment that they had the same eyebrows but self-edited!

FUNNY!

They stopped paying attention to time limits in the 90s... Kinda like all the tennis players who grunt and scream now, candidates for political office have kept grunting after the red light switches on for years now.

Blame it on the moderators who allowed it years ago -- they should have told the candidates who went over, "if we can't trust you to follow the rules of a simple debate, how can Americans trust you to uphold the Constitution and obey the law?"

with some Bossa Nova.

Seriously, though, did they mention the poor or poverty at all? And how many times did they say 'middle-class'? I wasn't counting.

Why are there blogs when the owners are hanging out on Twitter, and Tweets are being posted as comments?

Shut the doors and send us all to Twitter already.

1. Twitter's archives scroll off in two months

2. Twitter can't do long form

3. Twitter owns the content you post.

That said, there's a big technical and social issue here that I hope to have a plan for in the very near future when I finally put the fershuggeneh redesign up.

My experience with instant messaging technology is one of glitches and regrets, convenience and ambiguity, magic with oft-unwanted consequences.

Why the whole world needs to stop and turn on a dime, all at once, I'll never understand. Yes, it is nice to know what others think, and to exchange ideas, but in tiny snips at the speed of light? Too much, too fast. A series of false moves and the course of history is irrevocably altered. No second chances, or at least, no easy forgiveness for mistakes and a snowflake quickly becomes an avalanche.

Some of the morning after commentary recognizing the mass of lies and untruths told by Romney are lost on last night's reactions to his aggressive style. It is too late to call him a loser because the world loves a fighter more than it loves -- well, more than it loves anything else. Act first, think later. I think not. Oops. Too late. I thought instead of acted. Defense maintains the status quo and offense chips away at the status quo. What are people hungry for, more of the same? Uh, no.

We are living in a world of extremes and Twitter and Facebook and "social media" help move that along quite nicely, thank you very much. It is why third parties have no chance, why individuals believe their opinions and votes do not count. The very important people who form the avalanche opinion win the day. Why enable and empower them?

It is why Occupy is a failed movement. They chose defense rather than offense. In the Twitter/Facebook world, defending gets no attention, while offending puts you at the top of the 24/7 media cycle. They had that moment, where the world was watching, where they looked offensive, but the passivity and timidity that followed did not sell the masses. Too civilized. That doesn't work in the Twitter/Facebook world.

I suppose this is why I rarely appear anywhere online these days and shun the wonderful, new, "social media" that is supposed to make our lives so much better.

If only the current system didn't crash all the time!

Anyhow, that's what you do. First, you get the money. Then, you write the software. That's why I never made it in the software industry...

And the time for cool has passed! Now's the time for a fight! Obama doesn't like to show passion when he argues with people on equal footing.
