If you have "no place to go," come here!

Malkin goes for the glazed

Via the great Field Negro:

Yes, Michelle Malkin, that famous wingnut with the sharp tongue and frail physique, has taken issue with the latest ad. campaign from Dunkin Donuts.

Seems Rachel Ray, to the shock and horror of all of our wingnut friends, decided to wear a "keffiyeh" in her promotional ad. for the rather large coffee chain. "Jihad Chic", "hate couture" she [Michelle] is calling it. What is the republic coming to when people can actually get away with wearing this stuff?

"Hate couture"? Is that like Juicy Couture, except juicier?

The thing that drives me absolutely crazy about this shit is that it's the right's business model. Propagate a meme once, and you can go on the teebee and yammer about it forever.

Smart, funny, a good cook and easy on the eyes.

She's on my list.

No formal culinary training, no restaurant experience, just a pocketful of chutzpah and the best motto ever:

"To achieve maximum pleasure through minimum effort."

Turn up the flame, baby; we're cookin' with gas!

[Not that this has anything to do with Malkin or keffiyehs or anything substantively relevant, but it is true that Nigella "drives me absolutely crazy" - in a good way.]

Rawr!

With regards to the original post: I believe Rachel Ray became victim to following trends. All the lame ass hipsters inspired this tired keffiyeh fad years ago. You know it is sad when even Urban Outfitters gets on board (They pulled the "anti-war scarf" a while back after Jewish/Israeli groups protested).

Oh, come on, "hate couture" is simply a play on the phase "haute couture."

So I told this all to my husband and said, "You know, I'd boycott DD just because it's Rachael Ray," and he countered, "Heck, I'd boycott DD because it's DD!"

a monster hit: (altho turnover is giant there too--scroll to bottom of article) -- http://www.nypost.com/seven/04252008/bus...

She annoys me enormously, but her recipes are really easy (and she makes them all seem even easier), and she's sorta the opposite of Martha, which is a big big plus too.

I'd bet a million bucks she had no idea what the scarf even was or what its history and symbolism is.
