Lakota Nation to Take Wall Street’s Tent City Refugees

I just wanted to show how this thing could go down. Imagine you have a situation of financing companies, big banking firms like MBIA siphoning the resources of the rank and file American. The great corporation doing an ENRON like Fuck You! To the everyday working man – imagine that. If you can’t quite grasp it think of someplace like Pittsburg where:

A dilapidated home in the Hill District is among 11,000 derelict properties that Pittsburgh officials say can't be rescued because their tax liens are controlled by MBIA Inc. MBIA's bonds are connected to Pittsburgh's blight because the company controls about three-quarters of real estate with tax liens in the city. Nothing can be done to improve the properties until the bills are paid or MBIA writes them off. The company still expects to collect $40 million on the liens by the time the bonds mature in 2008. MBIA has held up development by not writing off its investment and allowing foreclosures.

So you begin to see a pattern where like in California "House prices are going down, but the rentals are sky- high. Folks who would have been in a house before are now in an apartment and folks that would have been in an apartment, now can't afford it. It has a trickle-down effect." You see it in places like Cleveland where people are living in ghost towns, seniors are surrounded by derelicts. Imagine Detroit with a faint pulse, a place where 60 to 70 percent of the houses are vacant and boarded up. Imagine that coming to a neighborhood near you.

Then you see off in the distance just outside the city a tent city like the one developing in Ontario California:

Between railroad tracks and beneath the roar of departing planes sits "tent city," a terminus for homeless people. It is not, as might be expected, in a blighted city center, but in the once-booming suburbia of Southern California. The noisy, dusty camp sprang up in July with 20 residents and now numbers 200 people, including several children, growing as this region east of Los Angeles has been hit by the U.S. housing crisis. And someone says “We are now a free country and independent of the United States of America. Anyone can live in the Lakota Nation, tax free, as long as they renounced their U.S. citizenship. The nation will issue drivers licenses and passports, but each community would be independent. It will be the epitome of individual liberty, with community control.” Link
